These auditions will consist of cold readings from the script AND a movement audition. This is NOT a musical, but will include movement and dance. Plan to stay for an hour and half.
Please download and be familiar with one or two of the sides provided; these are general sides for everyone at the initial audition.
Specific sides for each character will be provided at callbacks.
We are especially looking for experienced movers, dancers and/or those with stage combat experience -- this is a fight and movement heavy show. Every person cast will end up fighting at some point. But don't let that intimidate you! Our experienced choreographer can work with actors at a wide variety of skill levels.
Most of the characters are high school students, or young adults in their mid-to-late 20s. We will consider actors as young as 15 (if you can pass for 17) or as old as you can be and still pass for the character's age and description!
Please come dressed in comfortable (but not overly baggy) clothing so we can see YOU as you move; wear sneakers or jazz shoes (not character shoes or anything hard-soled).
Synopsis
This wildly humerus yet heartfelt exploration of fantasy role-playing games tells the story of Agnes Evans, a young school teacher, after the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons and Dragons notebook she suddenly finds herself on a journey of discovery with action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly's refuge. This high-octane dramatic comedy, laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, serves as an homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
