Please prepare a 1-2 minute performance piece of your choice (monologue, poem, spoken word, etc) and be prepared for cold readings. We also ask that you bring a physical copy of your headshot and resume. Auditions may be recorded for review.
The Monologue Cafe: #FML is the third edition of Laughing Pig Theatre's storytelling event. Writers have submitted themed monologues to be brought to life by local performers. The theme this time was embarrassing personal stories, as in #FML (f**k my life).
For this event, we will be looking for a variety of performers of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, with specific opportunities for female and gender nonconforming performers. If cast in the Monologue Cafe, most work for this show will be done individually, requiring only minimal in-person commitment the week of the show, and is not a paid performance.
Sensitive Guys is a play for all female or gender nonconforming performers that explores the intricacies of masculinity and violence. Two groups of well-meaning college students must navigate a shocking accusation and their own willingness to accept the unacceptable.
Sensitive Guys will be entirely cast with female and gender nonconforming performers of any ethnicity and background, ages 18-25. It will have a more consistent rehearsal schedule and pays a stipend.
Auditions will be held Monday, February 11 from 7:30-10:00 PM at the Mesa Arts Center’s Multipurpose Room (at the bottom of the stairs across from the main building).
