audition notice - THE NEVERENDING STORY: LIVE & LEGLESS - All Puppet Players - March 4 & 5
The All Puppet Players bring you The NeverEnding Story: Live & Legless.
This show asks you to embark on an adventure that has haunted children of the ‘80s for years. Travel to Fantasia, a magical land currently threatened by a darkness hell-bent on destroying everything it touches. Atreyu and his friends, including, a rock monster, a luck dragon, and a freaking guy riding a snail, all help him in his quest to destroy “The Nothing” and save Fantasia. This sprawling fantasy epic will be overflowing with APP’s signature wit, pop-culture references, cost prohibitive sets, and pure puppet anarchy that will lambaste and pay homage to this celluloid childhood classic. Get your tickets now and experience the enchanted world of a young boy’s imagination and behold the remarkable adventure that 80’s parents thought was appropriate for kids to watch.

Character Breakdown
Atreyu– Main character and puppet. He is a young warrior and completely flummoxed by the story that revolves around him.
Bastain– Human- shy and bookish boy around 12 years old (although casting older) who is neglected by his father, who is still mourning the sudden death of his wife. He is a dreamer, who is shunned by other children due to his immense imagination.
Falkor, Rockbiter, The Nothing, Gmork– puppets large and small-scale puppet performer. Willing to wear harness puppets as well as use hand and rod puppets. Great voice acting is a must. Think Audrey II from Little Shop.
The Childlike Empress- is the mysterious and benevolent monarch of Fantastica, who resides in the capital called Ivory Tower in the heart of the realm. Although she is nominally the ruler of Fantastica, she rarely interacts with the outside world. Should she die, Fantastica and all Fantasticans would cease to exist. This does not need to be played by a woman.
Frodo, Samwise, Sherlock, Harry Potter, and many others: We are also looking for men and women willing to do character acting for some of the greatest literary characters ever created. This is a combination puppet and live actor with different voices required and the ability to work off the cuff.
