ASU Gammage engagement of HAMILTON generates $50+ million in economic impact

The first engagement of HAMILTON on a college campus is in the history books at ASU Gammage as the show completed 32 sold-out performances at Tempe’s iconic venue.

During its January 30–February 25, 2018 run – HAMILTON brought in capacity crowds for every performance and generated more than $50M in economic impact* for the Valley.

“More than 92,000 patrons from across the state, country – and patrons from as far away as Mexico, Canada and Sweden came through the doors at ASU Gammage during the HAMILTON engagement,’ says Colleen Jennings-Roggensack executive director of ASU Gammage and ASU vice president for cultural affairs. Four weeks of HAMILTON in the Valley of the Sun continues the strong record of the ‘Arts’ meaning business in Arizona.”

The economic impact of ASU Gammage’s Broadway series was recognized just last year as ASU was named the 2017 Impact Business of the Year in addition to being awarded the 2017 Economic Driver Award in the Small-to-Medium Business categories by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.

Broadway shows at ASU Gammage not only provide an economic boon to hotels and restaurants, but also lift support services such as retail shops, hair and nail salons, parking, transportation services, babysitters and much more. For decades, ASU Gammage’s Broadway series has been an economic engine to drive growth, change and prosperity in the Valley and state.
