from our friends at Southwest Shakespeare Company:
Southwest Shakespeare Company (SSC), Arizona’s only classical theater, announced that Patrick Walsh, senior associate artistic director and also a longtime administrator in the Mesa Public Schools, has been honored as Administrator of the Year, Central Region, by the Arizona Thespian Society.
Jenell Riordan, state director of Arizona Thespians, said in an email notifying Walsh of the honor: “It is refreshing to find an administrator who can see how the Performing Arts are an important part of a well-rounded school program.”
The award was presented in the general session of the Arizona State Acting Festival November 18, 2016 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
Arizona Thespians are a group of teachers, students, and professionals who are dedicated to promoting theatre education in our schools and community.
“We are so delighted that Patrick has been honored by Arizona Thespians,” said Mary Way, president of Southwest Shakespeare Company. “His commitment to bringing Shakespeare - classical theater - to the state’s students is intense. He has been instrumental in helping the Company, for many years, bring Shakespeare to literally tens of thousands of Arizona school children. This is an award well deserved.”
