Theater Works is deeply saddened to share that our leader, visionary and friend has lost his life. Daniel Schay has been a pivotal member of the theater community throughout his career. Dan has been a visionary at Theater Works and every non-profit, company and person he has touched along his remarkable journey. While at Theater Works, Dan has taken the theater to a level of exceptional professionalism and artistry. His impact has resonates beyond the walls and seats of theater but into every aspect of the Valley community. Words will not do justice to the legacy he has left. We say goodbye to our leader, our friend, our inspiration.
Kerry Lengel at The Arizona Republic also wrote about Schay's passing today:
"Daniel Schay, the executive director of Theater Works in Peoria and previously of Phoenix Theatre, has died. He was 63. The news came as a shock to the Valley's theater community on Thursday, April 7.
