Open Auditions for Paid Roles in Phoenix Production of TONY N' TINA'S WEDDING Announced

 
Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding is seeking actors and actresses for All roles in the upcoming Off-Broadway NON-UNION production of Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding.

Tony n’ Tina’s wedding is an interactive Off-Broadway show that satires an Italian-American Wedding.

We are seeking men and women ages 18-50. Only people with outgoing personalities should apply. Good improvisational skills and acting experience is necessary.

Initial performances will be in October 2022 with weekly performances to begin January 2023 throughout the greater Phoenix area through the winter months

Auditions will be interviews, some will cold read from script and some actors will be asked to improvise.

Auditions will be held via Zoom or Facetime or Messenger over the coming weeks. 

Date and time will be assigned via email.

Some Characters will have Zoom Rehearsals the week before we are in the theater. Time and Date TBD

Rehearsal Dates = October 12-15, 17, 18

Opening = October 19-22

Pay = $100 per performance.

Actors must be available for rehearsals and all performances. Rehearsal schedule provided at the audition.

We will work with some scheduling conflicts for rehearsals.

All roles will eventually have understudies/swing opportunities as well.

  • CONNIE MACOGNI:  Maid of Honor. Mid 20’s. Italian. Sarcastic, jaded, party girl. 6 months pregnant.
  • DOMINICK FABRIZZI:  Usher. Mid 20’s. Italian. Bouncer at strip club. The muscle of the boys. Big, dumb and loveable bulldog. Has a big temper.
  • DONNA MARSALA:  Bridesmaid, 20’s. Italian. Sexy, K. Kardashian type. Aspiring “The Voice” contestant and aspiring influencer. Strong singer.
  • JOSEPHINA VITALE: Tina’s mother. 40’s – 50’s. Italian. Strong willed, control freak. Renee Graziano type.

Arizona Opera Announces Auditions for Youth Performers (ages 6-14) on October 7 & 8 for their production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC



Arizona Opera is seeking youth performers of any gender/ethnicity, able to play ages 6 - 14, for (6) lead roles for their production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Rehearsals will take place Jan 28-March 1st. Performances will take place March 3rd -March 12th.

Music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein. 

The Sound of Music will be presented at Symphony Hall in Phoenix and The Linda Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson.

An overview rehearsal schedule will be provided at the auditions. Performers must be available for all rehearsals and performances to be considered for roles.

The auditions will take place on October 7th from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM and October 8th from Noon – 8:00 PM.

The deadline to sign up for an audition is September 28th by 5:00 PM (AZ Time).

MUSIC- Prepare with sheet music one song or 32-64 bars memorized.
A pianist will play as you sing solo. We want to hear what you like to sing!
You may be asked to sing a few bars from the show as well. Not-memorized.
These materials will be provided at audition if needed.

ACTING
For Friedrich, Kurt, Marta, Gretl – Auditioners will be asked to read a line or two from the provided materials.
For Louisa and Brigitta – Auditioners will read a scene with panel. Doesn’t need to be memorized, but should be prepared beforehand.

FEATURED CHILDREN’S ROLES (6):
• Friedrich (age 14) - Tough exterior, very much trying to be “the man” of the family.
• Louisa (age 13) - Rebellious attitude. Always testing the people around her.
• Kurt (age 10) - Gentle and mischievous. Can be silly.
• Brigitta (age 9) - Smart, reads a lot. Very perceptive. This child has the most amount of dialogue and needs to be very savvy.
• Marta (age 7) - Very sweet and gentle.
• Gretl (age 6) - The youngest child. Very cute and eager to play.

Cast Announced for FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE at Black Theatre Troupe

 


Black Theatre Troupe opens its new season with the exuberant Broadway Hit, FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE. Performances are September 16 - 25 at Black Theatre Troupe, 1333 E. Washington. Tickets are $50 and are on sale at blacktheatretroupe.org or by calling 602-258-8128.

Based on the book by Clarke Peters, FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE is filled with the music of Jazz and Rock & Roll pioneer and saxophonist, Louis Jordan, performed live by a five-piece band. 

Cast includes Walter Belcher as "Big Moe," Dyonn James as "Little Moe," Frederick Alphonso as "Eat Moe," Phillip Glover as "Four-Eyed Moe," Cedrick Jenkins as "No Max," and Tyree Ballard as "No Moe/Radio Announcer." 

The production is directed and choreographed by Alexander Patrick with musical direction by Brenda Hankins.

ZOMBIE PROM - Actor's Youth Theatre - October 19-29, 2022


This girl-loves-ghoul rock 'n' roll Off Broadway musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage.

When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.

Valley Youth Theatre Seeks Male Actors 14+ for Four Major Roles in SPOOKLEY THE SQUARE PUMPKIN


Valley Youth Theatre is looking for four male actors 14+ to fill four major roles in our production of Spookley the Square Pumpkin: The Musical. Please email stagemanager@vyt.com to make an audition appointment.

 

Roles available-

Big Tom: Big Tom is a lovable, gentle pumpkin but has a hard time making his own decisions. Big Tom will be portrayed on stage by an actor with a puppet.

Edgar: Edgar the spider is a lovable, yet gruff little spider, who acts as the leader of the spider friends. Edgar will be portrayed on stage by an actor with a puppet.

Allen: Allen the spider is a good friend and a great team player. The strong silent type, Allen will speak up when there is something to be said. Allen will be portrayed on stage by an actor with a puppet

Poe: The lovable, sweet spider of the group, Poe is a good-natured yet simple spider. Poe will be portrayed on stage by an actor with a puppet.

Synopsis: Based on the wildly popular books and animated special, Spookley The Square Pumpkin: The Musical tells the story of a square pumpkin living in a round pumpkin patch on Holiday Hill Farm. Shunned by the other pumpkins, Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan and Poe, three hilarious spiders who convince him that, square or not, he has a right to be the Pick of the Patch. Encouraged by kindly Jack Scarecrow, Spookley tries his best, but he isn't sure he has what it takes until a mighty storm threatens Holiday Hill Farm. Spookley realizes it is up to him and his square shape to save the day. As a result, all the pumpkins in the patch learn that the things that make you different make you special.

Lee has planned every detail of his classical piano holiday recital, and he is determined to put on a polished (if somewhat boring) show for his friends and family.  What he didn’t plan on is a very lost Holly crashing his stage, but it turns out, everyone could use a little Holly Dazed spirit in their lives!

Order Chaos Theater Company (OCTC) is a new addition to the Phoenix theater scene that strives to create a space for “Prestige Community Theater” in the Valley.  Through its thoughtful and intimate productions, OCTC hopes to remove the distance between the stage and the audience, connecting with our community through plays and musicals that resonate with the lives of those around us.  We are committed to equality on and off the stage, striving for diversity, inclusion, and tolerance in all we do.  OCTC hopes to show the beautiful chaos of our lives reflected through the theatrical order of performance.
