"Debra Rich Gettleman took inspiration from O. Henry's classic Christmas tale, "Gift of the Magi," to create her farcical play Twist of the Magi, which she has set as a live radio play in a 1940s radio station. While it could be zanier than it is to really play into the farcical situations and comical characters she created, the cast and direction in Theatre Artists Studio's production are solid, which results in a fun and charming holiday outing suitable for the entire family....Gettleman has crafted a comedy that puts O. Henry's famous story front and center while also providing a fun assortment of wacky characters. ...However, as charming and humorous as the play is, there could be some additional moments to play into the zany characters and their relationships with each other, or moments, like in most farces, where the play goes off the skids and the cast has to get it back on track; here there is only one and it's resolved almost as soon as it begins...." - Gil Benbrook, TalkinBroadway.com (click here to read the complete review)
