"Disney has had several successful stage adaptations of their well-known animated films. Their first hit was based on their Oscar-nominated Best Picture Beauty and the Beast. ...This season there have been at least three productions of the enchanting musical in town, and the latest one at Hale Centre Theatre proves to be one of their best, with a top-notch cast, impeccable creative elements, and clear direction in a spectacular production of this beautiful, comical, and even quite moving, musical....Brie Wadsworth-Gates has appeared in numerous Hale productions and she is excellent as Belle. ...Her singing voice soars, with gorgeous and clear sustained notes...Even though he's hidden under fairly elaborate facial make-up and a large bushy wig, Zac Bushman does a wonderful job in giving the snarling, crabby, and aloof Beast some nuance and depth. Bushman's singing voice is strong and lovely, delivering a moving and crowd-pleasing version of "If I Can't Love Her"...With a superb cast, excellent direction, and wonderful creative aspects, this Beauty and the Beast is one of the best shows I've seen at Hale Centre Theatre.
