Auditions for MCC Musical Theatre's production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA announced for December 8-11

All auditioners must be at least 17 years old. If you are auditioning for the role of Meg or Slave Master you must also sign up for the Dance Ensemble audition. None of the other roles require movement so they will not be scheduled for the Dance Ensemble audition.

All actors/singers and dancers cast in the production will be required to register and pay for a one credit class at Mesa Community College. Additional registration information will be provided at the first rehearsal.

Singing/Acting Audition: Please prepare a two minute legit musical theatre/operetta song appropriate to the style of this show. An accompanist will be provided.

Dance Ensemble Audition: Please arrive warmed up and ready for choreographed work relevant to the show.

Principal & Ensemble Rehearsals will be scheduled Monday, Wednesday and Friday from
4:30 to 7:00 PM. First rehearsal is Monday January 17.

Dance Ensemble rehearsals will be different than the rest of the cast. There will be one week of choreography and then one day a week of rehearsals after that.

Tech begins Monday March 17. Performances are March 31 - Apr 10

Christine Daae – Female. Lyric Soprano or Light Colouratura (G3 to E6)
Callback Audition Song: Think of Me (Cadenza), Wishing You Were Somehow.

Vicomte Raoul de Chagny – Male. High Baritone (Ab3 to Ab5)
Callback Audition Song: All I Ask of You.

Meg Giry – Female. Mezzo-Soprano (Bb3 to F5) (See dancer information)
Callback Audition Song: Where in the World.

Monsieur Gilles Andre – Male. Baritone (A3 to A5)
One of the two new managers of the Paris Opera. Sarcastic and worried about putting on a show.
Callback Audition Song: Managers Scene.

Richard Firmin – Male. Baritone (A3 to F5)
One of the two new managers of the Paris Opera. He is more serious and worried about money and the business side of things.

Carlotta Giudicelli – Female. Colouratura Soprano (C4 to E6)
Carlotta is the resident Opera Diva, a true “drama queen” who feels threatened by Christine.

Madame Giry – Female. Mezzo-Soprano (Bb3 to Bb5)
The ballet Mistress for the opera house. Mysterious and stern.

Ubaldo Piangi – Male. Tenor (D4 to C6)
Piangi is a classical opera singer with a thick Italian accent.

FEATURED ENSEMBLE ROLES
The ensemble includes many of the other people who perform and work at the Paris Opera
House including dressers, stage hands, dancers, guards etc. The ensemble performs in several
of the operas in the show including the opening opera, Hannibal, and Masquerade. All
ensemble members must be strong singers who have some experience reading sheet music.

Joseph Buquet – Bass/Baritone (D4 to E5)
Buquet is an old stage hand with lots of knowledge and stories about the Phantom.

Don Attilio – Male. Bass/Baritone (F2 to C4)
The Countess’s husband in the Il Muto Opera sequence.

Passarino – Male. Baritone (D4 to F#5)
Don Juans sidekick.

Monsieur Reyer – Male. Baritone (C4 to C5)
The repetiteur of the Opera Company, a sarcastic tyrant.

Auctioneer – Male. Bass/Baritone
Begins the show auctioning off pieces from the opera house.

Monsieur Lefevre – Male. Baritone/Tenor
He is the retiring manager of the Opera House, with no intention of returning.

Hairdresser – Male. Tenor (A4 to F5)
He is one of the two men attending the Countess during Il Muto.

Jeweler – Male. Tenor (Bb3 to F4)
He is one of the two men attending the Countess during the Il Muto Scene.

Madame Firmin – Female. Any Range

Wardrobe Mistress – Female. Any Range

Confidante – Female. Mezzo-Soprano (E4 to G5)
She is the gossipy attendant to the Countess during Il Muto.

Slave Master (Dance Role) - Strong, Athletic, Masculine. Strong pirouettes, tours and leaps a plus. Singing not necessary but an advantage.

DANCE ENSEMBLE
Male or Female. We are looking for strong contemporary dancers. Ballet training is helpful but
not required. Pointe work a bonus but not essential.

MCC Music Theatre practices and supports non-traditional casting.
Standbys and swings will be selected from those auditioning.
