Audition Overview
Freaky Friday will run Wednesdays through Saturday nights with 4PM matinees on all Saturdays. The show will be directed and choreographed by Cambrian James and music directed by Dr. Cathy Hauan. This will be a single cast with approximately 32 performances total. Friday matinees may be added based on ticket demand.
Video auditions are recommended. Limited in-person auditions are available by appointment only on May 1st. Physical distancing and masks are required during in-person auditions. If sending in a video, please make your submission by Saturday, May 1st at 12:00 PM. Important: when submitting a video audition select the "Video Appointment" box on the sign up page.
What to Prepare
For in-person auditions: Be prepared to sing 16 bars of music of a song your choosing. Bring your own sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.
For video auditions: Video must contain at least 16 bars of music of a song of your choosing. Make sure the YouTube video is listed as public or unlisted for us to be able to view it. ONLY ONE video link can be pasted into the form. If you have multiple videos, EDIT THEM TOGETHER into 1 video before uploading it to YouTube.
Masks Safety Plans
Masks are worn during rehearsals and offstage.
Auditions Open to All
Auditions are open to all and we extend an invitation for all races and ethnicities to submit. Posted ages are guidelines only
Call Backs
Call backs will be in-person on May 8th in the morning. Location TBA. Masks are required.
Synopsis
When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter. We are sure this show will be one to delight!
