Hale Centre Theatre will hold auditions for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, playing July 5, 2019 – August 17, 2019. The show is produced by David and Corrin Dietlein, directed and choreographed by Cambrian James and music directed by Lincoln Wright. The casting directors are David and Corrin Dietlein.
Performances are Wednesday through Saturday nights, with Friday and Saturday matinees at 3pm.
All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
Actor Pay
Caratacus Potts & Truly Scrumptious - Leads: $75 per performance / $375-$450 a week*
All other roles: $50 per performance / $250-$300 a week*
Actors in lead roles will receive an estimated payment of $2925.00 , all other adult actors ages 14 and
older will receive a an estimated payment of $1950.00 for the run of the show. All children under the
age of 14 will receive a $300.00 stipend for the production. Actors will receive free meals between
matinee and evening performances and six complimentary tickets.
*Estimated payment may differ if performances are added or removed.
Synopsis
An eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with
the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car has magical properties,
including the ability to float and take flight. Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the
magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and batty Grandpa Potts to
outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.
Audition Information
● Children: Friday, March 15th at 4:00 PM
● Adults: Saturday, March 16th at 10:00 AM
What to Prepare
● Be prepared to sing 16 bars of music.
● Bring your own sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.
● The casting directors use Casting Manager during the casting process. Please post your head
shot and resume to your Casting Manager profile.
● Please review the Conflict Calendar found under the "Registration Form" tab and mark your
conflicts on Casting Manager accordingly. Hale Theatre does not use understudies. Actors with
show conflicts will not be considered.

Call backs for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be held Saturday, March 23rd at 10:00 AM with the first read through scheduled for Monday, May 20th at 7:00 PM .

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
CARACTACUS POTTS : (LEAD; 40-50; Male; A3-G5) An eccentric, brilliant, English inventor and loving father and son. His inventions and children are his life. Must dance.
TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS : (LEAD; 20-30; Female; A3-E5) Daughter of the famous candy maker, Lord Scrumptious. Strong and independent, but gentle. Falls in love with Caractacus.
GRANDPA POTTS : (65-75; Male; C4-E5) Caractacus Potts's father, who is a former war hero. He
loves to tell old War stories. A sort of second father to Jeremy and Jemima.
BARON BOMBURST : (35-45; Male; E4-E5) Tyrannical ruler of Vulgaria and a lover of toys. A
man-child, he is very immature, needy, and whiney. Will play multiple roles.
BARONESS BOMBURST : (30-45; Female; G3-G5) Head of the Vulgarian Parliament and a hater of children. Tyrannical and dramatic. Will play multiple roles.
THE CHILDCATCHER : (45-60; Male) He makes sure that Vulgaria is child-free. Evil and
manipulative. Hates children almost as much as the Baroness.Will play multiple roles.
THE TOYMAKER : (45-60; Male; C4-E5 ) With all children outlawed in Vulgaria, this toy-making
genius only works for the child-like Baron. Smart but frightened. Will play multiple roles.
JEREMY POTTS : (10-13; Male; C4-E5) Caractacus's son. An adventurous boy with a vivid
imagination. A total child at heart who loves his family.
JEMIMA POTTS : (10-13; Female; C4-E5) Caractacus's daughter. She is an adventurous girl with a
vivid imagination. A total child at heart who loves her family.
BORIS : (35-45; Male; C4-G5 ) A member of the two-person Vulgarian gang that works for the Baron and Baroness. Though he is not very smart, he is the leader.
GORAN : (35-45; Male; D4-G5) One member of the two-person Vulgarian gang that works for the
baron and Baroness. A dumb oaf.
ENSEMBLE : (16-30; All Must sing and Dance) Inventors; Soldiers; Townspeople; English Crowd.
CHILDREN ENSEMBLE : (10-13; All Must sing and Dance) Ensemble members, etc.
