audition notice - ANNIE - Hale Centre Theatre - August 1


Hale Centre Theatre will hold auditions on August 1st for Annie , playing October 11, 2018 – November 24, 2018.

The show is produced by David and Corrin Dietlein, directed by Cambrian James, music directed by
Lincoln Wright, choreographed by Cambrian James, and casting directors David and Corrin Dietlein.
Performances are Wednesday through Saturday nights, with Saturday matinees and some Friday
matinees at 3pm. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

SYNOPSIS
America’s favorite orphan is back and guaranteed to sing her way into you heart like never before!
Optimistic and determined, Annie’s search for her parents leads her on adventures from the 1930’s
“Hoovervilles” to the White House. One of the most beloved and fun-filled family musicals of all time.

Audition Information

Auditions will be held Wednesday, August 1st at the following times:
● KIDS : 4:00 - 6:00 PM
● ADULTS : 6:45 - 8:00 PM

What to Prepare :
● Be prepared to sing 16 bars of music.
● Bring your own sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.
● The casting directors use Casting Manager during the casting process. Please post your head
shot and resume to your Casting Manager profile.
● Please review the Conflict Calendar found under the "Registration Form" tab and mark your
conflicts on Casting Manager accordingly. Hale Theatre does not use understudies. Actors with
show conflicts will not be considered.

Call Backs
Call backs for Annie will be held Monday, August 6th at 4:00 PM (at the Hale Theatre) with the first
read through scheduled for Monday, August 27th at 7:00 PM .

Audition Location
Auditions will be held at our Hamilton Warehouse located at 175 South Hamilton Place #111-112,
Gilbert, AZ 85233 .

Payment
The role of Annie and each adult actor ages 14 and older will receive a $40 per performance
payment; this is an estimated payment of $1560.00* for the run of the show. All children under the
age of 14 will receive a $300.00 stipend for the production. Actors will receive a free meal between
matinee and evening performances.
*Estimated payment may differ if performances are added or removed.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

ANNIE : (10-12; Female; A3-G5) A street-wise orphan; she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly, big-voiced.

OLIVER WARBUCKS : (40-55; Male; B3-Gb) A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich,
stiff-collared, bullish.

GRACE FARRELL : (20-35; Female; Bb3-G5) Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle.

ORPHANS : (6-13; Female; Must sing) The other girls in the orphanage with Annie. These girls are
gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially loveable. Includes Molly, Kate,
Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy.

MISS HANNIGAN : (30-45; Female; A3-F5) The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter, and cold.

ROOSTER : (25-35; Male; B3-G5) Miss Hannigan's no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man.

LILY : (20-30; Female; B3-G5 tenor) Rooster's girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. She is
considered to be a floozy and a bimbo.

BERT HEALY : (30-45; Male; E4-G5) The ultimate radio personality. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents. Will double in the ensemble.

THEODORE ROOSEVELT : (40-60; Male; Eb3-F4) The 32nd President of the United States. A
Democrat and friend of Warbucks.

ENSEMBLE : (18-40; Male & Female; Must sing and dance) Warbucks’ Servants (Drake, Mrs. Greer, Mrs. Pugh, Cecille, Annette), Boylan Sisters, Cabinet Members, Hooverville Citizens.

SANDY THE DOG : In-person auditions for Sandy will be by invitation only. Please create a video
audition appointment showing training, obedience, and/or tricks. Preferably medium to large breed
dogs with similar looks to Broadway and movie.
