Zao Theatre is holding auditions for the play, THE ELEPHANT MAN.
The Elephant Man will be directed by Mickey Bryce.
Auditions are by appointment and will be held on Monday night, February 26th, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
Call-backs are scheduled for Tuesday, February 27th, at 6:30 PM.

Auditions will be held at the Zao Theatre at Centerstage Church, 550 S. Ironwood Dr., Apache Junction, AZ 85120. (Broadway and Ironwood)

The production dates are Friday, August 24th, 2018 - Saturday, September 8th, 2018. Shows run on Friday nights at 7:30 PM, and Saturdays at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
Rehearsals will begin Monday, June 4th, at 6:30 PM, and will be held on Monday -Thursday nights, 6:30 PM- 9:30 PM. Tech week begins Monday August 20th.
Conflicts will be an important consideration in casting.

Character Breakdown
John Merrick : The part has been cast.
Frederick Treves : Based on Sir Frederick Treves (1853-1923), who performed England’s first appendectomy; this prominent London Hospital surgeon forges a friendship with Merrick after housing him in the hospital. Though he is an uncompromising Victorian gentleman, Treves softens toward Merrick and even draws parallels between Merrick’s life and his own, grappling with the difficult emotions this realizeation causes.
Mrs. Kendal : The part has been cast.
Carr Gomm : The administrator of London Hospital, where Merrick lived for the last years of his life under the care of Treves. He often acts as a mentor to Treves and protector of Merrick.
Ross : A showman and manager of Merrick as “The Elephant Man” in a freak show, who first sees him as a money-maker and then as a liability.
Bishop Waltham How : A fervent believer, he wants Merrick to receive religious instruction above all.
