Theater Works SummerWorks theater camps are the perfect summer activity for kids who love theater or who want a fun, creative summer activity. There are SummerWorks classes for all ages and skill levels, indulging the just-for-fun campers and those who want to hone their acting and musical theater skills. With many camp themes, from Broadway to Superheroes and Magic Tree House to Choose Your Own OZ, boys and girls alike will have a fun-filled creative summer.
SummerWorks is part of YouthWorks Academy arts and education programming for ages 3 – 18 years. YouthWorks Academy classes and camps teach creative approaches to life skills with exciting and enriching themes that inspire and instill a love for the performing arts. SummerWorks camps are taught by Theater Works distinguished teaching artists. Classes begin May 30, 2017.

BROADWAY BOUND 1: MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP
May 30-June 2 from 9am-4pm $195.00 (Registration Deadline May 26)
Youth Session ages 7-12, Teen Session ages 13-18
This is the summer camp for kids who love musical theater! Campers work with a musical director and choreographer to perform famous Broadway numbers for our showcase at week’s end! No previous music or dance experience is necessary to enjoy this fun-filled workshop. FINAL PERFORMANCE June 2 at 6pm, Gyder Stage
Magic Tree House: The Knight at Dawn Kids: 3-WEEK MUSICAL THEATER PRODUCTION
June 5-23 from 9am-4pm $525.00 (Registration Deadline June 2)
Youth Session ages 7-12, Teen Session ages 13-18
The two siblings, Jack and Annie, return to visit the magic tree house. As they read a book about knights and the middle ages, Annie is intrigued by the Black Knight and the mysterious quest one must successfully complete before becoming a knight. When she wishes to visit the castle in the book, the siblings are whisked away to medieval times. They set off to learn more about the Black Knight and his quest, experiencing a grand medieval feast, escaping through secret tunnels and dancing with enchanted suits of armor, all in an effort to find their way back home.

BROADWAY BOUND 2: MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP
June 26 -30 from 9am-4pm $225.00 (Registration Deadline June 23)

We return for another round of Musical Theater with our second workshop of the summer. New songs, choreography, and best of all more FUN! Please note: You do not need to have been enrolled in BROADWAY BOUND 1 to participate in BROADWAY BOUND 2. FINAL PERFORMANCE June 30 at 6pm, Gyder Stage
Choose Your Own OZ: 3-WEEK PLAY PRODUCTION
July 10-28 from 9am-4pm $525.00 (Registration Deadline July 7)

The Wizard of Oz meets Choose Your Own Adventure in this fresh and fast-paced retelling of the L. Frank Baum classic in which the audience plays playwright and gets the chance to change everything from Dorothy’s footwear (silver slippers or ruby red…clown shoes?) to Toto’s species (lion, tiger or octopus?—oh my!) to the Witch’s flying footmen. A delight for youth of all ages, Choose Your Own Oz reminds us all that at the end of the day, there really is no place like home. FINAL PERFORMANCE July 28 at 6pm, Gyder Stage
Imagination Series
Our youngest campers are able to use their imaginations to bring fun characters to life through dramatic play, art, and music. These camps are a great introduction to theater and the performing arts. Each camp has a new theme so your actor can take one or all three sessions and have a unique creative experience every time. Each session is ideal for both boys and girls aged 3 – 6 years.
