Synopsis
4 on the Floor is a high octane musical about 4 mechanics who, in 1968, dream of becoming a band like The Beach Boys or the Drifters, but all they really know is cars…so that’s exactly what they sing about. Their dreams conflict with reality and even their dream ‘calendar girls’ cannot entirely hold the real world at bay.
Character Breakdown
Jack: Appears 18-30, Fancies himself the leader of the group. He is friendly, outgoing and genuinely likeable. Appears in swim trunks and later an abbreviated ‘calendar’ costume.
Sal: Appears 18-30. The macho member of the group. Sal knows it all and implies he’s ‘connected’. Appears in swim trunks and later an abbreviated ‘calendar’ costume.
Freddie: Appears18-30 The quiet one, almost nerdy. He is the peacemaker of the group. Appears in swim trunks and later an abbreviated ‘calendar’ costume.
Clifton: Appeals 18-30 African-American. The wise one. Funny and friendly, but cautious. Appears in swim trunks and later an abbreviated ‘calendar’ costume.
Ed: Appears 50-75 The cantankerous owner of the shop. Grumpy, but with a soft side.
The Four Calendar Girls: Appear 18-30. The boys fantasy girls who appear as the girls from their mechanics tool calendar. Eventually, the tables are turned on the boys. The girls wear abbreviated, sexy tool calendar costumes, as well as string bikinis for The Beach Boys medley.
Additional Info
There is no actual nudity! We just want auditioners to be aware of the abbreviated costumes, including swim suits and string bikinis. If 4 on the Floor proves very popular, this production could extend nearly as long as the cast wishes and is available.
It is helpful if the actors in roles of Jack, Sal, Clifton and Freddie play rock and roll instruments. All roles sing.

What To Prepare
Auditioners should prepare 16-32 bars of a song that best shows off their voice. (Bring sheet music in appropriate key. No CD’s) Dress to move for dance audition. Headshot and resume if available. List of possible rehearsal conflicts. Singing from the script and additional dancing will take place at callbacks if necessary.

Saturday, March 25th at 2:00pm and Tuesday, March 28th @ 7:00pm.
Callback Dates and Times:
Wednesday, March 29th @ 7:00pm (If required.)
