"The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is a fun, silly, comical whodunit that will keep you guessing as to the identity of the killer at the center of its murder mystery plot. As the opening show in Grand Canyon University's 2021-2022 season...it makes for a perfect crowd-pleasing, comical romp...a fast-paced show set in a mansion with numerous secret doors and passageways....a snowstorm rages outside the house, the phone lines and electricity go out, and the cast of eccentric characters, some of whom are using secret identities, start getting bumped off while trying to determine just who amongst them is the killer....Michael Kary (is) an expert at fight direction and physical comedy staging. His cast for this production deliver some terrifically staged comical fight sequences and scenes that feature bodies being humorously dragged across the stage and propped up against a piano, chairs and doors....Kary's direction and the cast's ability to deliver what's required of them result in many funny sequences and provide a few moments of suspense as well. William Symington's set design is superb...The cast all do a fairly good job in bringing their comical characters to life...intriguing, silly fun and an enjoyable theatrical treat for comedy and murder mystery fans." -Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway (click here to read the complete review)

review - HAMILTON - National Tour: ASU Gammage
highlights from local critics reviews - (click link at bottom of each review to read complete review)
Click here for more information on this production that runs through October 10
"...ASU Gammage serves as the first stop for one of the three touring productions of the smash hit show Hamilton, which are now back on the road. Hearing the 3,000 audience members cheer and applaud on opening night made for a joyous welcome back performance....The multi-racial cast (specifically, casting the main white characters all with non-white actors) perfectly aligns with the fact that America was a nation built by immigrants and that the United States has always been a place where people come to succeed, no matter the color of their skin. The multi-racial casting, the energetic, epic score, and the modern sensibilities in the show also make the historical context easily accessible while also depicting famous people in the history books in a whole new light....While it's now been several years since Hamilton first took the world by storm, racking up 11 Tony wins and record-breaking ticket sales, and the filmed version of the original Broadway cast is still readily available on Disney+, seeing this musical live with more than 3,000 enthusiastic and appreciative audience members made me feel like things are finally getting back to normal." -Gil Benbrook, Talkin' Broadway (click here to read the complete review)
