Set in the glamorous but troubled world of 1930s New York society, My Man Godfrey is a fast-paced comedy about wealth, privilege, romance, and the surprising ways people can change. During a wild scavenger hunt, wealthy socialite Irene Bullock encounters Godfrey Parke, a dignified man living among the “forgotten men” at a city dump. On a whim, Irene hires him as the family butler. Godfrey quickly becomes indispensable to the chaotic Bullock household, bringing order and common sense to a family whose extravagant lifestyle is increasingly out of touch with the realities of the Great Depression. As Godfrey becomes part of the family, he must navigate Irene’s unpredictable affection, Cornelia’s hostility, the family's eccentric behavior, and a series of increasingly ridiculous situations. Beneath the comedy, however, Godfrey's own mysterious past begins to emerge. With screwball humor, romance, physical comedy, and social satire, My Man Godfrey contrasts the carefree excesses of the wealthy with the struggles of those left behind. At its heart is the unlikely relationship between Godfrey and Irene… and the question of who really needs to be rescued.

Auditions are in-person only; no videos
Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. PDFs of audition sides will be available for download the Casting Manager audition site
Looking for performers with comedic timing, big facial expressions, humility, and looking to have fun.
Enter your rehearsal conflicts on the audition site, and bring a list of all conflicts with you at time of audition.
There will be no understudies, if you are not available for all performances, we cannot consider you for casting in this production.
Our goal is to cast the very best actors for each role.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Callbacks: will be by invitation on Sunday, November 1, 2026, if required, from 7-9 pm.
First Rehearsal: will be Monday, November 30, 2026 OR Monday, December 7, 2026.
Performances: January 21 through February 27, 2027. See the downloadable Performance schedule.
Stipend: All actors will receive a stipend of $350-$400 depending on total number of performances. Plus 4 complimentary tickets and a generous discount for family/friends.
Roles Available
Role Title: GODFREY PARKE
Gender: Male | Age Range: 35 - 45
Intelligent, dignified, capable, and quietly hiding a more complicated past. He becomes the grounding force in the chaotic household. Think classic Hollywood leading man material. *The roles of Godfrey and Irene include staged kissing. Performers auditioning for these roles should be comfortable with this aspect of the production.
Role Title: IRENE BULLOCK
Gender: Female | Age Range: 20 - 25
The youngest of the Bullock children. Impulsive, eccentric, energetic, and emotionally unpredictable. She hires Godfrey during a scavenger hunt and becomes fascinated with him. *The roles of Godfrey and Irene include staged kissing. Performers auditioning for these roles should be comfortable with this aspect of the production.
Role Title: ALEXANDER BULLOCK
Gender: Male | Age Range: 50 - 60
The wealthy patriarch of the family. Growly, but more sensible than the rest of his household and increasingly frustrated by their extravagance and irresponsibility.
Role Title: ANGELICA BULLOCK
Gender: Female | Age Range: 50 - 60
The mother. Flighty, theatrical, and self-absorbed, she enthusiastically participates in the family’s bizarre antics
Role Title: CORNELIA BULLOCK
Gender: Female | Age Range: 20 - 30
Irene’s older sister. Spoiled, cold, snobbish, and manipulative. She initially looks down on Godfrey and treats him cruelly. Park Avenue brat.
Role Title: CARLO
Gender: Male | Age Range: 25 - 45
The family’s eccentric “protégé.” He is comic, unpredictable, and treated as part of the household despite his strange behavior.
Role Title: MOLLY
Gender: Female | Age Range: 20 - 40
The Bullocks’ maid. She has her own struggles and provides a contrast to the wealthy family’s obliviousness to hardship. A firecracker and a hoot.
Role Title: FAITHFUL GEORGE
Gender: Male | Age Range: 20 - 30
Description: In love with Cornelia. Faithful to a fault. Will likely double with ensemble roles.
Role Title: TOMMY GRAY
Gender: Male | Age Range: 35 - 45
Friend of Godfrey from his former life. Famous polo player and stockbroker. Fell off his horse a time or two. Will likely double with ensemble roles.
Role Title: ENSEMBLE MEN
Gender: Male | Age Range:18 - 60
Will cast 2-4 ENSEMBLE MEN. Plays MC, HANDSOME CABBIE, PROCESS SERVER, VAN RUMPOLE, DETECTIVE, MAYOR LAGUARDIA, SOCIALITES, and FORGOTTEN MEN. Women are welcome and encouraged to audition for these roles as well!
