Our 26–27 Showcase Season announcement is here! This season brings familiar stories to life in new ways—from page to screen to stage. Each Showcase takes something you think you know and opens it up just enough to see it differently. Across the season, characters step into new versions of themselves, challenge expectations, and figure out where they belong. It’s a season about change, identity, and stories that keep evolving beyond "happily ever after."

Mary Poppins  August 22, 2026 When Mary Poppins arrives at the Banks household, everything changes—but never quite the way anyone expects. This stage adaptation expands the familiar story with new moments, new texture, and a fresh look at a family learning how to reconnect. Come along to a world where the ordinary can turn extraordinary in an instant.

Shrek the Musical  November 7, 2026 Shrek takes everything you think you know about fairy tales and flips it upside down. Beloved characters get reworked, expectations get broken, and the story barrels forward with humor and bite. At the center is an unlikely hero just trying to find his place in a world that keeps getting it wrong.

Cinderella  January 16, 2027 This updated Cinderella opens up the classic story, putting more weight on choice, voice, and what it means to take control of your own ending. The world feels bigger, the stakes feel sharper, and the journey becomes less about waiting for change—and more about making it.

Seussical the Musical  March 13, 2027 Seussical pulls together the wild world of Dr. Seuss into one big, tangled adventure. Stories collide, characters cross paths, and nothing stays in its lane for long. It’s colorful, fast-moving, and full of unexpected connections that somehow all fit together.

New to MTAA's Showcase? Here's what to expect.   You’ll see a full musical performed with a live orchestra—but without sets, costumes, or choreography. Instead, the focus is on the music, the characters, and the story. With just two rehearsals, there’s a fresh energy to every production. Performers carry scripts, scenes are minimally staged, and what unfolds onstage is part concert, part storytelling, and entirely in the moment. It’s a one-night-only glimpse into the heart of a musical, performed by singers and instrumentalists from across the state. Keep an eye out: applications and ticket information will be announced soon. Whether you’re hoping to take the stage or cheer from the audience, we can’t wait to share these performances with you!
