As Keath Hall becomes Artistic Director for Southwest Shakespeare. Co-Founder of Ronin Theatre, Cody Goulder to take his place.
It is with a bittersweet, but grateful heart that we must announce the departure of our Co-founder and Artistic Director, Keath Hall, from Ronin Theatre. Keath will be assuming the mantle of Artistic Director for Southwest Shakespeare and they are the luckier for it. Since founding Ronin with Cody Goulder in 2020, Keath has crafted unforgettable theatrical experiences for both our audiences and collaborators. As he succeeded with Ronin, he will certainly do so with Southwest Shakespeare. Keath's last show with Ronin will be as Director and Co-adapter of "Klingon Hamlet". The great classic Hamlet; set in the Star Trek universe. Running May 22nd to June 29th.
What comes next Ronin? As ever, the future.
Ronin's Co-founder, Cody Goulder, will be leading us as Artistic Director for 2025 and beyond. He is already hard at working preparing the company for the 25/26 season to follow. Cody is dedicating to carrying on the values that Ronin was founded upon. "As Artistic Director, I promise to hold to the foundations we have started, the practices we implement, and respect catered to all persons."
To help him in this grand venture, Cody has brought on two new managing members to form a theatrical triumvirate with which to lead company into their next season.
The first will be John Perovich, as Assistant Artistic Director and Playwright in Residence. John Perovich is a playwright, dramaturg, and theatre maker in Phoenix, AZ. John will be part of our season planning and overall company coordination. He will bring his considerable experience, having served as Artistic Director of Now & Then Creative Company and as the Director of New Play Development at Brelby Theatre Company. Not to mention his success as playwright, being presented at the Valdez Theatre Conference, Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, and Mid-America Theatre Conference. A titan of the AZ theatre scene.
The other new member will be E.C. Darling-Bond, serving as Assistant Producing Artistic Director and Marketing Manager. E.C. is an actor, playwright, director working in our community for over a decade now. He will be involved in planning and coordinating the artistic movement and overall business of Ronin.
Although we are optimistic about the season ahead, we are indebted to Keath and all he has done. Cody said it best "For getting this company off the ground, for all the blood, sweat, and time he has put into it. For all the magical things he has done for us. None of us are here without him." Thank you, Keath!
