All ensemble roles need to attend the dance call. Please see the character description below for dance call requirements.
SMTC encourages all ethnicities to audition.
Performance Dates: July 11th – July 21th, at Tempe Center for the Arts
Pay: There will be a $350 performance stipend provided
Rehearsals start: End of May and will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights plus Saturdays and Sundays, with an occasional Friday night. All rehearsals will be held at Conservatory of Dance in Phoenix. There will be a rehearsal schedule with specific dates provided at auditions and a conflict sheet to fill out.

Audition Requirements:
Singing/Acting Call
Audition times must be reserved and will be assigned every 5 minutes. Please prepare one vocal selection of 32 bars or less. You will need to have sheet music in the proper key; an accompanist will be provided. No CDs or acapella singing will be allowed. You may be asked to do a second vocal selection and/or a monologue not to exceed 1 minute, so please have those ready.
Dance Call
As the dance call is first on both days, please arrive in enough time to warm up and be ready to dance. Please wear dance appropriate clothes and shoes. All adult females should wear character heels if possible. There will be a jazz routine routine taught at the dance call,.

Sid Sorokin (Cast, Cory Mccloskey)

Gladys
Gladys is an exceptional singer and dancer. needs strong acting skills as well. Needs to have very strong stage presence.
Age range: early 20s. Vocal Range: Mezzo w/belt
Prez
Must have great comic timing and strong acting and singing skills and be able to move.
Age range: Early 40s to Mid 50s. Vocal range: Baritone
Hasler
Great character part. Needs to have good comic timing and strong acting and singing skills. Does not need to attend dance call.
Age range: 50 and up; Vocal range: Baritone
Mabel
Sid’s secretary. Must have great comic timing and be a solid singer and dancer.
Age range: Mid 30s to mid 40s; Vocal range: Alto/Mezzo w/belt
Ensemble
All minor and smaller roles including Mae, Brenda, Rita, Poopsie, Charley and Joe will be cast from the ensemble. This show has many roles that will come out of the ensemble cast. Must be good with harmonies and move well for the ensemble work in this show.
