Tis Pity She's A Whore by John Ford
A contemporary of Shakespeare, Ford's play is a violent romp through a twisted patriarchal society. Like Romeo & Juliet but with the violence of Titus Andronicus. This is a heavily adapted version with some rearranging of story and themes.
Cast:
Bonaventura: Commanding Nun with a strong and influential presence throughout the play. Comfortable with stage combat.
Soranzo: Suitor to Annabella. High class & powerful.
Grimaldi: Suitor to Annabella. Soldier & violent.
Bergetto: Reluctant suitor to Annabella and full of bawdy humor.
Donado/ Hippolita: Donado is the Aunt to Bergetto and head of her house. Hippolita is wife to Richardetto and jilted lover of Soranzo out for revenge.
Richardetto: Husband of Hippolita disguised as a doctor to get revenge on Soranzo. Musical instrument a bonus.
Philoten: Niece to Richardetto. Musical instrument a bonus.
Florio: Father to Annabella & Giovanni. Businessman.
Putana: Annabella's caretaker/companion. Like Juliet's nurse but dirtier.
Giovanni: This role has been cast.
Annabella: This role has been cast.
*All actors will participate in Stage Combat except Florio and Donado/Hippolita. The ability to play a musical instrument is desirable for any of the characters.
Rehearsals: March 4th-April 4th. Mon-Thurs with Early Saturday TBD
Performances: April 5th-April 28th. Friday, Saturday & Sundays
Audition: Monday Jan 14th 5pm-9pm
Callbacks: Tuesday Jan 15th 5-9pm
