"Blending the prose of William Shakespeare with the pop culture of Star Trek, Ronin Theatre Company's imaginative production of Hamlet, retitled A Klingon Hamlet, transports the classic tragedy to the war-torn world of Qo'noS, home of the Klingons. This fusion of sci-fi spectacle and Shakespearean drama is a sci-fi-loving, theatre nerd's dream as, while it's both wildly inventive with many Star Trek references, it's also surprisingly respectful and offers a fresh lens through which to view Shakespeare's familiar tale....Under Keath Hall's confident direction, the cast provide committed, assured performances...There are a few well-placed tongue-in-cheek nods to Star Trek lore, including references to specifics of Klingon culture that come from episodes of the TV series, and a passing appearance of those pesky Tribbles, brings pops of laughter. However, those unfamiliar to Star Trek may be lost and wonder why people are laughing or applauding at certain lines or a few of the images in the projections. There are also a few fun in-jokes that less familiar Star Trek fans may miss....Whether you're a Shakespeare purist, a Trekkie, or somewhere in between, A Klingon Hamlet is an entertaining and inventive journey that proves both genres can thrive together. You could also say that it boldly goes where no Bard has gone before."   - Gil Benbrook, TalkinBroadway.com (click here to read the complete review)
