"When you see that a film or play is based on a true story, you might wonder just how much truth there is to it. Paul A. Green's play, Babalon, which blends history, science, and the supernatural, is not only based on entirely actual events and real-life individuals, but focuses on the occult, sex-motivated mind control, magick, and blood rituals. It's also a crazy and wild ride. While it has some issues, it's always fascinating and the individuals Space 55 and Ronin Theatre Company have cast to bring this story to life in their co-production of the American premiere are excellent and entirely invested in the far-fetched but factual plot....Director BJ Garrett does a wonderful job of keeping the pace brisk...The cast is great...Angel Lopez is superb as Parsons,..His charismatic depiction clearly shows how Parsons got people to follow in his beliefs.
