"Actors PLAYground, one of the newest theatres in the Phoenix area, presents youth shows as well as those with casts composed of older teens and young adults in their early 20s. In their debut season, the first production of what they've dubbed these "20 plus" cast shows, is Peter Kennedy's murder mystery comedy, Alibis. While the play is average, the Actors PLAYground cast features several talented individuals who breathe life into the stereotypical murder mystery characters, which results in a fast-paced and mostly fun comedy. Set in the 1940s at a mansion in the English countryside, the plot focuses on a group of individuals who have come to the house of Primavera Donna for a dinner party. When Prima is discovered dead in her bedroom, and as a storm rages outside, a series of additional murders take place, and the guests and the audience attempt to figure out whodunit....At 75 minutes, Alibis doesn't overstay its welcome, which is a good thing. While I have some quibbles with the script, the Actors PLAYground cast create fun portrayals of these familiar murder mystery characters and the sharp direction delivers several laugh out loud moments." - Gil Benbrook, TalkinBroadway.com (click here to read the complete review)
