Monteverdi’s and Striggio’s “L'Orfeo” is based on the Greek legend of Orpheus, and tells the story of his descent to Hades and his fruitless attempt to bring his bride Eurydice back to the living world. Originally written for a court performance during Carnival in Mantua, Italy in 1607, it is among the earliest Italian operas to be written. 

This show is suitable for audiences ages 12 and up. The performance includes depictions of substance use including drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. Sung in Italian with supertitles.
