ABOUT THE SHOW
STUPID FUCKING BIRD
by Aaron Posner
directed by Ron May
March 12 - 26, 2016
at Helen K. Mason Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Phoenix
It’s THE SEAGULL. Just…on steroids.
You’ve never seen Chekhov like this. Irreverent, contemporary, smart, inventive, and very, very funny, Aaron Posner’s bold and cheeky sort-of update of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull thrusts us into a country house where unrequited desire is drowned in equal parts alcohol and sarcasm. In true Chekhovian fashion, actresses, playwrights, doctors, and novelists bare their souls as they search desperately for the truth of love and art. STUPID FUCKING BIRD skillfully remixes the renowned “subtext” of the classic play into exuberant and hysterical scenes and songs. “How does one have Chekhov speak to 21st-century America? See this production. I can only imagine Chekhov’s delight were he to see his play so wisely reinvented.” – LA Weekly

SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY - Theater Works - January 15 - 17, 2016
Act Two Productions proudly presents the nostalgic production entitled “Sentimental Journey.” In this unique performance, impressionist extraordinaire T.A. Burrows and multi-talented entertainer Kat Bailes will take you on a music and memory-filled trip through time. This journey begins in the 1950s and then moves forward decade by decade to the dawn of the new millennium.
Along the timeline, T.A. and Kat use their versatile vocal talents to recreate popular hits by legendary artists such as Elvis Presley, Brenda Lee, Bobby Darin, Cher, Neil Diamond, Michael Jackson, Barry Manilow, Shania Twain, Michael Buble and others. In all, the duo performs 21 renowned songs that helped comprised the soundtrack of our lives, as our music and culture evolved from the days of the transistor radio to the advent of tne IPOD.
Between the hits, T.A. and Kat regale the audience with humorous anecdotes and recollections of the fads and fashions of each era. And T.A. conjures up celebrity voices from the past like Moms Mabley, Howard Cosell, Muhammad Ali, Jimmy Carter, Paul Harvey, Wolfman Jack, Casey Kasem and more.

video preview - PETER PAN 360 - The Pavilions at Talking Stick
Let your imagination take flight on a soaring and stunning adventure with Peter Pan 360 Live on Stage! Don’t miss the classic storytelling and jaw-dropping visual effects of this hit production that has adults and children cheering! Playing in the Threesixty Theatre Tent located by The Pavilions at Talking Stick in Scottsdale. Get your tickets today at PeterPan360.com!
Fun facts:
- Threesixty Theatre is a state of the art, climate-controlled tent and very intimate at only 13 rows deep! There is not a bad seat in the house!
- The tent is 100 feet high and takes over 4 days to build
The CGI Projection Screens make this version of PETER PAN unlike anything you have ever seen or experienced before!
- The CGI is delivered by 12 video projectors each providing 30 degrees of the image. We use edge-blending software so that each projection blends seamlessly with those either side of it to create our continuous 360 degree virtual set.
- The CGI provides 15,000 square feet of video, larger than the biggest imax cinema.
- Each projector provides 20,000 lumens of light (1 Lumen = the level of light perceived by the human eye) A good home-cinema projector gives out approximately 2000 lm on average
- The longest sequence of CGI in the show is the Flight to Neverland for which 400 square miles of Edwardian London was rendered for the 4½ minute flight. This involved the use of 300 computers running continuously for 2 weeks.

Synopsis:
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, SPAMALOT retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful show girls?
Character Breakdown:
KING ARTHUR (Late 30s-60s.): The King of England who sets out on a quest to form the Knights of the Roundtable and find the Holy Grail. Great Humor. Good singer.
SIR ROBIN (30s-40s): A Knight of the Roundtable. Ironically called 'Sir Robin the Brave,' though he couldn't be more cowardly. Joins the Knights for the singing and dancing. Also plays GUARD 1 and BROTHER MAYNARD, a long-winded monk.
SIR LANCELOT (30s-40): A Knight of the Roundtable. He is fearless to a bloody fault but through a twist of fate, does discover his 'softer side.' This actor MUST be great with character voices and accents, as he also plays THE FRENCH TAUNTER, an arrogant, condescending, over-the-top Frenchman, the KNIGHT OF NI, an absurd, cartoonish leader of a peculiar group of Knights, and TIM THE ENCHANTER, a ghostly being with a Scottish accent.
PATSY (30s-40s): King Arthur's horse and servant. Underappreciated but always longing for King Arthur's approval. Good, funny, physical mover with some tap dancing. Also plays MAYOR, a jolly red-faced man who advertises the merits of his home town and the drunken, useless GUARD 2.
SIR GALAHAD (30s): A Knight of the Roundtable. Begins as Dennis, a lower class 'mud gatherer' who becomes Knighted and transforms into the dashing Sir Galahad. Also plays PRINCE HERBERT'S FATHER, a wealthy, brutish Yorkshireman man at odds with his sensitive son, THE BLACK KNIGHT who is always ready to duel despite multiple injuries. Strong bari-tenor singing required.
SIR BEDEVERE (20s-40s): A Knight of the Roundtable. An inept scholar. Also plays DENNIS GALAHAD'S MOTHER, a shrill peasant woman, and CONCORDE, Sir Lancelot's horse. No solo singing.
THE LADY OF THE LAKE (20s-30s):A Diva. Strong, beautiful, possesses mystical powers. The leading lady of the show. Great singing voice is essential, as she must be able to sing effortlessly in many styles and vocal registers. Especially seeking actresses of all races for this role.
THE FOLLOWING ROLES ARE PLAYED (but not necessarily) BY THE SAME ACTOR (20s-30s): Tenor singing required. Very good mover.
HISTORIAN: A tweedy academic.
NOT DEAD FRED: A sickly little fellow who, despite others' beliefs, claims he is "not yet dead."
FRENCH GUARD: The condemnatory French sidekick to the French Taunter.
MINSTREL: In Sir Robin's band.
PRINCE HERBERT: The hopeful and frilly prince who loves to sing and pines for his love atop a tower.
ENSEMBLE: six men and six women (with very silly bits & pieces!)
Crew Positions Available! - Looking for set builders, and a sound assistant/board op. Also looking for a zany backstage crew. Please contact us if interested!
