WITTENBERG - Southwest Shakespeare Company - April 20 – April 29, 2017

by David Davalos

Back by popular demand!   It is October 1517 in northern Germany and the characters of Hamlet, his mentor John Faustus, and Faustus’ colleague and Hamlet’s instructor and priest, Martin Luther, all collide in a brilliant theatrical construction by David Davalos. Local critics and patrons alike found Wittenberg to be entertaining and intellectually satisfying in equal measure – a definite theatrical feat!

Wittenberg 2017, with the same remarkable cast, is being offered to new audiences in a new venue. Critics of last year's performances had this to say...

“Fact plus fiction equals big laughs in Southwest Shakespeare’s Wittenberg!”
★★★★ FOUR STARS! Kerry Lengel, AZ Central

Dickinson, Glass, and Wilson are phenomenal ~ richly, crisply, and believably channeling their characters. Ms. Sell ~ in multiple roles, including a sassy barmaid, the object of Faustus’s affections, and a messenger of sad tidings from Elsinore, demonstrates once again her remarkable versatility.” ~Herb Paine, Broadwayworld.com

“Zany and thought-provoking aren’t two descriptions that usually go together, yet the smartly written Wittenberg manages to be both … the end result is charming, intellectual, confident and inspiring, yet also extremely hilarious.” ~ Gil Benbrook  TalkinBroadway.com
