Arizona’s first professional theatre company, Arizona Theatre Company is the state’s only member of the respected League of Resident Theatres (LORT) – as well as the only LORT theatre nationally that produces shows in two cities, Tucson (at the historic Temple of Music and Art) and Phoenix, (at the elegant Herberger Theater Centre). ATC maintains offices in both Tucson and Phoenix.
Overview
The Education Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day education and outreach efforts. The position’s primary responsibilities include fulfilling the education department goals, outreach to the education community, delivery of education programs both on site and in schools, fulfillment of grant-funded education programs, managing the education department staff and executing the department strategies set by the Artistic Director. The position can be based in Tucson or Phoenix with travel between ATC’s offices.
• Manage all education and engagement programs including Summer on Stage, Theatre on the Go, Master Classes, Onceuponna, My Shakespeare, Student Matinees and Teach Preview Night
• Oversee interaction with local education institutions by maintaining ongoing dialogue with community wide circle of educators
• Develop engaging curriculum in collaboration with the artistic team
• Manage administration, marketing & program development of the department
• Recruit, train, supervise Teaching Artists and Interns
• Represent ATC to the community through speaking engagements and meetings
• Maintain the education department calendar
• Facilitate scheduling and internal communication concerning educational activities
• Manage post show discussion schedules
• Manage budgets for the education department and various educational grants
• Collaboratively develop and implementing policies for educational programming
• Assist development initiatives as needed, including assistance in grant submissions
• Create press releases for education programming
• Other duties as assigned
Competencies
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver successful presentations both scripted and unscripted
• Self motivated, friendly, energetic and an effective and efficient communicator
• Attentive to detail, accountable and deadline oriented
• Able to uphold a tone of collaboration, respect, optimism and professionalism, both internally and externally, while maintaining composure in a fast-paced, deadline driven setting
• Excellent knowledge of classroom management techniques
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree, MA or MFA preferred
• 5 years of education experience in the arts
• Knowledge of state education and learning standards
• Supervisory experience
• Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
