Nowadays, it’s not just enough to take or offer a “stand-up comedy class” to compete in today’s market, you need to be a well rounded performer.  Not just a joke teller.  And unfortunately, most if not all stand-up comedy classes offer simply “the mechanics”.  Set up, punch and twist.

THIS class will go beyond that.  You will learn the Mechanics, but also Improv, Hosting, How to Handle Hecklers, Story-Telling, Act-outs, Characters and more.  Everything you will need to become a truly well rounded performer.  Not simply a mechanical joke robot.

This class will step out of the comedy teachings of the 1980’s and bring you up to date with how comedy works NOW.  How comedy works TODAY.

One on One with the “Pro’s”

We also feature from time to time, a guest speaker. These are the real working pro’s that not only work at The Comedy Spot, but work around the country and the world performing stand-up comedy! They’ll bring their years of experience to the table so our students can not only learn from their successes, but also their failures. They’ll take the time to answer any questions the new or advanced comic can think of, and we are very proud to be able to make this a very exciting part of our curriculum.

No director or actor wants a stage dialect or accent to detract from the overall production. A bad dialect, an inconsistent or flatly wrong dialect can be very distracting to the audience. At the same time, the American audience (or native audience) must be able to understand the dialect or accent being used.

Dialect 911 gives the actor and director a chance to use intonation, rhythm, patterns of speech and use of the dialect or accent’s most recognizable sounds to make the script up to 30-40% more authentic and humorous, especially if the script was written by a native speaker.

Diane Senffner also works with a large network of actors and persons who possess specific dialects and accents. She can assure a high level of authenticity when working with these native speakers.  Contact Diane at 480-330-7994 or visit
