Character Breakdown:
JAMES TROTTER, Boy Soprano, Male, to play a 7-10 year old:
The hero of our story! James is a recently orphaned young boy who lives with his two evil aunts and dreams of having a family that loves him again. He has a great imagination and is kind to all creatures. British accent is a plus.

LADAHLORD, Baritenor, Male, to play 25-40:
The mysterious narrator of the story who has a hand in everything that happens. Ladahlord is a bit kooky and eccentric, but watches over James over the course of the story, guiding him to a better life. Ladahlord also appears disguised as smaller roles, such as an airplane pilot, a cruise worker, etc. This actor should be a captivating storyteller with great comedic timing, who can command the stage.

AUNT SPIKER & AUNT SPONGE, Mezzo-Soprano/Alto, Females:
James’s only living relatives; these women are monstrously selfish and cruel. They decide to take him into their house only to treat him as their slave. Spiker is the brains of the two, whereas Sponge only cares about what she’s going to eat next. For these two, we need excellent comedic actresses with larger-than-life personalities and big voices. Cockney accents a plus!

LADYBUG, Soprano, Female:
A warm, motherly ladybug who instantly bonds with James. Ladybug should be sweet, caring, and ladylike, but ready to laugh and have a good time. She has a bit of a crush on Grasshopper. She tenderly helps James realize that even though his parents are gone, the ones we love never really leave us.

GRASSHOPPER, Tenor, Male:
An optimistic, happy-go-lucky grasshopper, who forms a fatherly relationship to James. He has a bit of a crush on Ladybug. If the gang is feeling down, he is the first one to start singing a song to help everyone smile again.

SPIDER, Mezzo-Soprano, Female:
A clever, spunky older-sister figure to James. She is fun-loving and finds Earthworm & Centipede’s antics hilarious.

EARTHWORM, Tenor, Any gender:
Earthworm is a gentle, cautious, and cowardly insect. They look at James as a brother, and also can sometimes let their own fears drive them crazy. Eventually, they muster up the courage to act as bait for some hungry seagulls.

CENTIPEDE, Baritenor, Male:
Centipede can be a bit of a grouch, but is still very loyal to the pack of insects. James sees him as the cranky uncle with a heart of gold. Centipede often torments Earthworm for fun, and teases James about being a human.

BILLY & BOBBY BOBBY-COP, Any voice type, Any gender:
Two police officers, they should look and move exactly alike.

MATRON NURSE, Any voice type, Female:
The woman in charge of the Painswick Orphanage, hasn’t had a day off in years. She rushes James into going home with his Aunts.

MR. & MRS. TROTTER, Any voice type, Male & Female:
James’s recently deceased parents who appear in his nightmare.

KARL KREATOR, Any voice type, Male:
A London Zoo-goer who appears in James’s nightmare-flashback.

VAGRANTS, Any voice type, Any gender:
Pick-pockets on the streets of Dover. They are mean-spirited friends to Spiker and Sponge. Featured Vagrants include: Doreen Driggles, Ridgley Rapscallion, Violet Funkschmeller, and Chris Cryermouth.

REPORTERS, Any voice type, Any gender:
The reporters hit the scene as soon as the peach starts growing larger than normal. They are led by reporter Ida Walters.

LADIES GARDEN GUILD, Any voice type, Any gender:
The Ladies Garden Guild, led by Bitsy Botana, are sensible old ladies in flowery frocks who want Spiker and Sponge to do the keynote speech at their conference, due to the giant peach.

HOLLYWOOD AGENTS, Any voice type, Any gender:
The Hollywood Agents (led by Buzz the Agent) come to investigate the peach and offer Spiker & Sponge movie and Broadway deals.

FARM ANIMALS, WILLY WONKA, & OOMPA LOOMPAS, Any voice type, any gender:
Various creatures into which the Peach rolls & crashes. Some might be familiar, from a famous chocolate factory.

ANGRY CROWD, Any voice type, any gender:
An angry crowd who searches for Spiker and Sponge when the Peach is nowhere to be found.

CRUISE-GOERS, Any voice type, any gender:
Passengers aboard the cruise ship sailing from London to New York.

SHARKS & SEAGULL DANCERS, Any voice type, any gender:
Sharks & seagulls who are attracted to the peach to eat Earthworm. They should be excellent dancers for “Plump and Juicy”.

NEW YORKERS, Any voice type, any gender:
New Yorkers, including the Screaming Women, Lucille Van Kooglestein, Bunny Mackenzie The Third, Jake and Joe all witness the peach land directly on the Empire State Building and are sent into a panic
