Hale Centre Theatre Announces New Actor Pay Rates!
from David and Corrin Dietlein, Executive Producers, Hale Centre Theatre - Arizona
Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, actors at Hale Centre Theatre will see a nice difference in their compensation - a big difference! Since 2003, Corrin and I have always been extremely grateful to everyone who has come and performed at our theater. The talent, energy, and love for theater exhibited by everyone from actors, directors, technicians, and all support staff has been amazing and always extremely appreciated. In turn, we hope that the creative environment existing to this point has been enjoyable and rewarding. But there is more. We have always wished that we could do more for actor compensation. Conditions now are such that this is possible and we are pleased to announce the following pay scale for actors:
2019 Actor Pay Scale Beginning Jan 1, 2019
Leading actors: $75 per performance / $375-$450 a week*
All other roles: $50 per performance. / $250-$300 a week*
Actors (under 14 years old) are paid a $300 stipend for the entire run.
*Weekly pay rates are based on the actual number of performances.
*The average run at Hale is seven weeks.
So, for example, if you are in the ensemble or supporting roles your pay could be as high as $2,000.00 or as a lead actor your pay could be as high as $3,000.00 for the run.
No Rehearsal Pay
Please note that there is no rehearsal pay as it is bundled into the “per performance” pay. But, after doing the math, you’ll find this new pay structure to be a big increase for all. Also, as we work towards even better pre-production efficiency, we hope to shorten the rehearsal period. We respect your time and will do all in our effort to maximize your time at rehearsal and not waste it.
Role Designations
Role designations will be posted on the audition notice, i.e., what role is considered a lead for each production. It will be posted on our audition notices and at auditions as well so that all lines of communication regarding pay is very clear.
We are very excited to be able to make these changes. Again, we appreciate everyone for all you have done in the past. With an eye to the future and to continued growth in all areas of production, theatrical excellence, audience enjoyment, and our entire theater family’s fun and fulfillment...Here’s to an amazing 2019!
