"The popular family-friendly musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, one of the earliest collaborations between composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, is being brought to life in a vibrant and crowd-pleasing production at Hale Centre Theatre. It's an energetic show with many showstopping production numbers, featuring a large talented cast of many Hale regulars, including Brandt Norris as Joseph and Michala Montaño as the Narrator....The choreography by Cambrian James is lively, varied, and full of fun moments, complementing his direction, which is infused with heart and humor. James' staging creates a strong connection between the performers and with the audience, with both Norris and Montaño often singing directly to them, and he also doesn't downplay the emotion in the story which helps to convey the musical's themes of family and forgiveness. Introducing the Summer Dream Teen Project!
13 The Musical features an all-star cast of passionate teens who came together to envision, create, and perform DFTs season opener! A directing team, musical director and choreographer supported and mentored the inspired work of a remarkable group of young artists. The result? A collaborative teen project featuring a wonderful production with a lively score, fantastic dancing and a few sweet surprises!
About the show...
Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County) 13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out!
Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents' divorce. Surrounded by an array of simple-minded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?
The cast is comprised entirely of teenagers, but the stories that come to life here are ageless, the emotions they explore timeless, the laughter and the memories they provide priceless.
Directed by Sandi Carll & Sebastian Stallone
Music Director, Jackie Paul
Choreographer, Chelsea Carll
13 the Musical is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
