Characters:
Lucas Spencer: early to mid 30's. A dentist. Grew up on theupper east side of Manhattan. Recently married to his husband Kyle. Refuses to see the negative actions of his mother and blindly makes excuses for her. Doesn't always enjoy socialization with other people outside of his immediate family, partly because he's worried that he doesn't measure up.
Kyle Houston: early 30's, male. Born and raised in Iowa, part of a large family. Moved to New York for college. A former investment banker, he quit and decided to start building furniture because that was his passion. Sees the best in people and is Lucas' opposite in sociability. With the exception of his mother-in-law, Margaret. He sees her as a stereotypical mother-in-law and not as a person.
Gertrude Vandemere: 50's-60's female. A whimsical rebel, who refuses to let "society" define her. She marches to her own drum. Somewhat forgetful, and possibly a little alcoholic, but never drunk, she enjoys life. Has a particularly close friendship with Kyle.
Melissa Talbot: 30’s female. Kyle's best friend since college. She is an interior designer, and frequent collaborator with Kyle. Took psychology in college and ever since, thinks that she can fix everyones problems for them but often times causes more issues to develop.
Roger Talbot: 30’s-40’s male. A sportscaster and former baseball player. Injured out, and went into broadcasting. Likable to most people but oftentimes is the recipient of Lucas's ire. Alpha male in appearance but generally kind and lets Melissa, his wife take the lead.
Margaret Spencer: 50’s-60’s female. An old school New York socialite. Wants to appear as a leader of society, always dignified and impeccably dressed. Clashes with Kyle because she sees that Kyle brings out a loving quality in her son Lucas that he usually doesn't express with others. She was a distant parent that had nannies for her son, but deep down, regrets that she wasn't more of a "hands on" parent.

Phoenix Theatre Company's 2026/2027 Season!
The Phoenix Theatre Company has announced its 107th Season of shows to lift your spirits and spark your imagination, featuring eleven productions across three stages beginning August 24, 2026.
Programing includes five Tony Award–winning musicals, two pre-Broadway productions. It stands as one of the most expansive seasons in the company’s history.
The 107th Season marks the first time The Phoenix Theatre Company will operate a full year of programming across all three stages on its expanded campus. From large-scale musicals in the 500-seat Dr. Stacie J. and Richard J Stephenson Theatre to intimate plays and inventive new works in the Hormel Theatre and Judith Hardes Theatre, the company will present a range of theatrical experiences designed to meet audiences at every scale.
“Last season we opened a new stage,” said Michael Barnard, Producing Artistic Director. “That moment expanded what was possible for us, but this season is really about the full picture of who we are as a theatre company. For the first time, we’re programming across all three of our stages for an entire year, which allows us to tell stories in very different ways and at very different scales.”
The 107th Season’s offerings include five Tony Award–winning musicals that have shaped the contemporary Broadway landscape. From the historical storytelling of Suffs to the razor-sharp wit of Kimberly Akimbo, the legendary score of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, and the beloved theatrical spectacle of Mary Poppins and Monty Python’s Spamalot, the season brings an exciting mix of celebrated titles and new works to Phoenix audiences.
The new season also features two pre-Broadway productions: the world premiere of Stage Mother and Unlock’d, a witty and whimsical new musical poised for a life beyond Phoenix. Arizona Broadway Theatre’s 2026/2027 Season!
Arizona Broadway Theatre Unveils its 22nd Season
The 2026-27 line-up includes a mix of award-winning musicals, new productions and family favorites.
Arizona Broadway Theatre proudly announces its 22nd season of live performances in the West Valley. The 10-show line-up will run from October 2026 through September 2027, with productions ranging from classics like “My Fair Lady” to family favorites like “Miracle on 34th Street” and award-winning musicals like “Cabaret” and “Pippin.” The season also includes the world premiere of “Triângulo” and three regional musical premieres, including “Mean Girls,” “Wonderland” and “Honeymoon in Vegas.”
“There is so much to look forward to with the upcoming season at Arizona Broadway Theatre,” said Kurtis Overby, Artistic Director at Arizona Broadway Theatre. “Each show was chosen with thought and care about what will inspire and excite Valley audiences. The 466-seat Arizona Broadway Theatre is located in the Northwest Valley in the heart of the P83 entertainment district in Peoria. It provides an all-encompassing entertainment experience for audiences of all ages by combining a one-of-a-kind venue with world-class dining and professional theatre. It is the only theatre of its kind in Arizona.

JingleJacks

“JingleJacks” centers around four Canadian lumberjacks, isolated in a cabin, living out their dreams of becoming internet sensations with their Christmas webcast. The pop star wannabes hold contests, sell merchandise and send “shout outs” to their loyal fans, “The Jackals.” Through it all, their warmth, charm and quirkiness provide a big holiday bear hug loaded with traditional song favorites and fresh melodies.
