Arizona Theatre Matters proudly announces the premiere of The Ferryman’s Toll, an emotionally charged new work of audio theatre, launching this month on the company’s YouTube channel. This groundbreaking play dives deep into the fragility of memory and the resilience of the human spirit through bold storytelling, layered performances, and raw emotional truth.
Set in a series of virtual therapy sessions, the play follows Alexandra and Marguerite—two lifelong friends, artists, and collaborators—whose relationship is strained by unspoken pain, shared trauma, and a devastating secret. As the sessions unfold, so too does a complex history spanning decades: stories of survival, buried grief, and the psychological toll of carrying one another’s burdens for too long.
Directed by Michael Rawley, The Ferryman’s Toll was written collaboratively by acclaimed theatre artists Dylan Brody, Samantha King, Jeanmarie Simpson, and Gary Wright. Featuring a cast of stage and screen luminaries—Gary Wright, Lynne Griffin, and Elizabeth Saunders—the production delivers an intimate and impactful listening experience.
“This is about what it means to be seen, to be remembered, and to choose love in the face of pain,” says Rawley. “There’s beauty in the broken pieces, and this production brings that to life with honesty and grace.”
ATM offers all its productions free and ad-free on YouTube, ensuring accessibility for all audiences. Each piece features onscreen ASL and captions in over 300 languages, reaffirming the company’s commitment to inclusive, barrier-free theatre.
The Ferryman’s Toll premieres July 15th on the Arizona Theatre Matters YouTube Channel. Subscribe today to be among the first to experience this unforgettable new work.
