"Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit's Phantom offers a fascinating take on Gaston Leroux's classic novel, "The Phantom of the Opera." While Andrew Lloyd Webber's blockbuster musical adaptation remains the most well-known stage adaptation of Leroux's work, this version is an equally compelling alternative as it delves deeper into the Phantom's humanity as well as the tragic circumstances that shaped him. With its lush creative aspects and excellent performances, Arizona Broadway Theatre's production proves that there is more than one way to tell this timeless tale."   - Gil Benbrook, TalkinBroadway.com (click here to read the complete review)

"Yeston’s score is plush, and the love story in Kopit’s book is still tragic enough to tug at the heartstrings. The bones of Gaston Leroux’s tale remain: there’s the deformed genius (Jamie Parnell) lurking beneath the Paris Opera House, the gifted ingénue (Sophia Masterson) he falls for, and the inevitable heartbreak that follows. But unlike its Broadway counterpart, this PHANTOM trades bombast for intimacy, grandeur for grace."   - David Appleford, Broadway World (click here to read the complete review)
