audition notice - IN THE HEIGHTS - Mesa Encore Theatre - March 2 & 3

MET will be holding auditions for In the Heights Mar. 2 & 3 (both 9:30 AM - 1:45 PM)

Call Backs Mar 10 (4-9 PM)

ALL ETHNICITIES WELCOME but we are trying to stay true to Lin-Manuel Miranda's vision and original production, so we are especially looking for Latinx and African-American actors and actresses.  ALL performers need to be comfortable speaking and singing in Spanish.

Vocal Auditions first, by appointment: plan to sing 32-bars from any musical similar in style.  Bring sheet music in the proper key OR an instrumental recording - make sure we can connect it to our 1/8" sound cable!

After the vocal auditions we will send invites to call-backs for reading and dance.

PRE-AUDITION DANCE WORKSHOP: at the MET Black Box stage at 933 E. Main Street, Mesa on Sat. Feb 23 6 PM - 9:30 PM and everyone is encouraged (but not required) to attend as a warm up and to meet the choreographer and director.  Drop-in, no reservation required.

No registration needed for the workshop; wear dance shoes.

Synopsis
IN THE HEIGHTS, tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. IN THE HEIGHTS is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.
