Audition Overview
MUSIC - The music for HELLO, DOLLY is classic Broadway-style singing......big, bold, brassy and high!! The ensemble is very busy, singing and dancing in many wonderful production numbers.
We are looking for an ensemble of ALL ages (high school to mature).
A quote from Music Director, Michael Snyder – “The choral work in Hello Dolly is fun and challenging. I will definitely need “singers”! There is much division within each vocal part. The vocal range is often high. If you are auditioning for the ensemble, I need to hear you sing full out and need to hear something that shows off your range! I can’t wait to hear all of you.
DANCE - Choreography for Hello Dolly is classic musical theatre dance, with a strong focus on ballet and jazz. We are seeking dancers with lots of personality who can execute this high energy and very technical choreography. Dancers from all backgrounds and training are encouraged to attend. There will be multiple dance features in the show.
Call Backs and Dance Audition will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, beginning at 7:00 pm.
Performance dates are October 29, 30, November 5, 6,12,13,19, 20, 2021.
Friday shows at 7:30 pm. Saturday shows 2:00 pm and 7:30 p.m. with a meal provided between shows.
Rehearsals are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 6:30-9:30 pm and Saturday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Role Title: Dolly Levi
Gender: Female
Age Range: Open - Open
Description: Matchmaker, widow, meddler, opportunist, life-loving, commanding, strong stage presence. Stage age: 35-50. Vocal range: alto-soprano. Dance ability: some.
Role Title: Horace Vandergelder
Gender: Male
Age Range: Open - Open
Description: Well-known half-a-millionaire, widower, owns the Feed Store, gruff, set in his ways, authoritative. Stage age: 40-60. Vocal range: baritone. Dance ability: some.
Role Title: Cornelius Hackl
Gender: Male
Age Range: Open - Open
Description: Head clerk at the Feed Store, energetic, enthusiastic, and adventurous. Stage age: 30-35. Vocal range: baritone. Dance ability: strong.
Role Title: Barnaby Tucker
Gender: Male
Age Range: Open - Open
Description: Assistant to Cornelius at the Feed Store, naïve, energized, follower. Stage age:17-20. Vocal range: baritone. Dance ability: strong.
Role Title: Irene Malloy
Gender: Female
Age Range: Open - Open
Description: Owns the Hat Shop, widow, beautiful, smart, fun-loving. Stage age: 30-35. Vocal range: soprano. Dance ability: strong.
Role Title: Miinnie Fay
Gender: Female

Description: Irene’s assistant, naïve, straight-laced, fresh, follower. Stage age: 17-20. Vocal range: mezzo-soprano. Dance ability: strong.
Role Title: Ambrose Kemper
Gender: Male
Age Range: Open - Open
Description: Struggling artist, good-natured, accommodating, wants to marry Ermengarde. Stage age: 19-23. Vocal range: tenor. Dance ability: strong.

Description: Horace’s niece, whining, high-strung, wants to marry Ambrose. Stage age: 17-20. Vocal range: any. Dance ability: strong.
