When Broadway star, Patrick Page, stepped out of Hadestown because of Theater closure - and stepped into a Southwest Shakespeare (SSC) live online performance of The Merchant of Venice, the company’s viewership quadrupled. “Over 3000 people tuned in to see the all-star cast of Merchant. “Happily we have managed to hold on to them” said Producing Director Stacey Walston. “The nature of these productions is that we are flying by the seat of our pants - any number of technical disasters can happen at any moment - but miraculously we are producing really excellent theater in cyber space, and people are coming in droves.”
This Saturday at 6:30pm (PDT), 7:30 (MDT), 8:30 (CDT), 9:30 (EDT) Actors from Arizona and from all across the country take the virtual stage to bring you two of Shakespeare’s most beloved characters: Falstaff, played by local actor Ben Tyler and Prince Hal, played by native son John Way in Henry lV, Part 2. Other local artists include Beau Heckman, Bonnie Beus Romney, Ian Christianson, Harold Dixon, and Seth Scott.
