audition notice - A CHRISTMAS CAROL - Scottsdale Musical Theater Company - August 18 & 19



Audition Dates/Times:
Saturday August 18th:
Children's singing auditions start at 11:30am
Adult's singing auditions start at 2:00pm

Sunday August 19th:
Children singing auditions start at 3:00pm
Adults singing auditions start at 7:00pm
                                   
There will be a dance call for both children and adults, immediately following singing auditions on both days.

               13637 N. Tatum Blvd., Phoenix
               (on the southeast corner of Tatum and Thunderbird)

To schedule an audition time slot, please email auditions@scottsdalemusicaltheater.com or call (602) 909-4215. Everyone auditioning needs to reserve a singing time slot. Everyone auditioning needs to participate in the dance call, as all roles double in the ensemble.
SMTC encourages all ethnicities to audition.
Performance Dates:  December 6th – December 23rd, at Tempe Center for the Arts
Pay: There will be a $500 performance stipend provided for adults and a $250 stipend provided for children

Rehearsals start: Middle of October and will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights plus Saturdays and Sundays. All rehearsals will be held at Conservatory of Dance in Phoenix. There will be a rehearsal schedule with specific dates provided at auditions and a conflict sheet to fill out.

Audition Requirements:
Singing/Acting Call
Audition times must be reserved and will be assigned every 5 minutes. Please prepare one vocal selection of 32 bars or less. You will need to have sheet music in the proper key; an accompanist will be provided. No CDs or acapella singing will be allowed. You may also be asked to do a second vocal selection of 16 bars or less and/or a monologue not to exceed 1 minute, so please have those ready.

Dance Call
For both children and adults, once you have finished singing, please warm up and be ready to dance. The dance call will start immediately after singing auditions are finished. Please wear dance appropriate clothes and shoes. All adult females should wear character heels if possible. Adult females, please bring tap shoes as well.

There are non-singing dance roles in this production. If you are a dancer that does not sing, and only wants to be considered for the dance parts, please call or email anyway so that we can confirm you will be attending the dance call.

Mr. Cratchit
Actor Should have strong stage presence with a strong singing voice and solid acting skills. Will also double in the ensemble.
Age: 30 to 40, Vocal range: BaritoneTenor
Mrs. Cratchit
Actress Should have strong stage presence with a strong singing voice and good acting skills. Will also double in the ensemble.
Age: 30 to 40,  Vocal range: Mezzo/Soprano
Ghost Of Christmas Present
Actor needs to portray a larger than life personality. Needs to have "showstopping" presence on stage with a strong singing voice and comedic abilities. Will also double in the ensemble.
Age: 35 to 45, Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor
Ghost Of Christmas Past
Actor Should have strong stage presence with a strong singing voice and solid acting skills. Will also double in the ensemble.
Age: 30 to 50, Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor
Ghost Of Christmas Future
Actress Should have strong stage presence with a strong singing voice and good acting skills. Will also double in the ensemble.

Marley

Adult Ensemble
This show requires a large ensemble. All small roles will come from the ensemble. Need to have a very strong singing voice and be comfortable singing harmonies. All ensemble roles will need to be able to move so participation at the dance call is required. See above for details regarding female dance needs, including tap.

Tiny Tim
Young actor should have strong stage presence with a solid singing voice and solid acting skills.

Scrooge at 12

Scrooge at 8
Young actor should have strong stage presence with a good singing voice. Will also double in the ensemble.

Fan
Young actress should have strong stage presence with a solid singing voice. Will also double in the ensemble.
Age: 12-14
Children's Ensemble
