talk back at the April 14th performance of A KID LIKE JAKE at Mesa Encore Theatre

This Saturday April 14th, there will be a post show Talk Back immediately after the performance of A Kid Like Jake at Mesa Encore Theatre

A Q&A session with the Director and the Cast of the show and a Talk Back led by our moderator Marissa Chin with questions for the Cast, Director and Guest Speakers

During The Talk Back, there will be an open forum discussion and questions such as the following:

In the show, Alex thinks Jake may be going through a phase. Did anyone ever tell you it was just a phase?

As someone who transitioned when they were young, do you think your experience has been or will be different from those who did so when they were older?

How do you feel about the politics of passing/non-passing?

Have you ever been discriminated against for you gender identification?

In the show, Judy says that now is a good time to be a parent to a gender nonconforming child, as opposed to 50 years ago. What do you think she means?

How and when did you first notice that your child was gender nonconforming?

Do you worry about them being teased or bullied? How do you talk to your child about that?

Who do you find to be more accepting, children or adults?

Do you feel that it possibly could be just a phase like Alex talked about? Are you worried about imposing your own beliefs about gender on your child?

A Kid Like Jake is a powerful play that looks into a subject that matters
