Southwest Shakespeare Company's DESERT ARTS LAB - November 10 & 11

It is known that some of the harshest climates and terrains produce beauty that is stark and arresting. From the four-peaked razor-edge mountains that ring the valley to the patchwork desert tessellated and cracked from the heat, Arizona is unique and beautiful.

Southwest Shakespeare's 2017/18 Fellowship Company has curated a variety night of theatre showcasing the native talent. This evening is an opportunity for actors and performers to share work that is of their own making. Joseph Cullen, comedian-depressive extraordinaire, fresh off the Mesa Arts Center stage as the lisping King Louis XIII in SSC's "The Three Musketeers" will be MC-ing this electric night of comics, circus performers, writers, and live music.

Frank Lloyd Wright conceived of the Taliesin West space as a desert laboratory and we hope that the artists and audiences are invigorated by the surroundings and inspired by the creative experiments on show.

“An idea is salvation by imagination.” - Frank Lloyd Wright.

Doors will open at 7pm with the show starting at 7:30 on Friday and Saturday November 10 and 11th. The show will consist of an hour of variety followed by a 20 minute intermission followed by a staging of SIREN (WINNER of the 2017 VAULT Festival Spirit Award) a one act play about a serial killer couple on their weekend away in Wales, written by Joseph Cullen and Sasha Wilson.
