Desert Foothills Theater's Fall 2017 Education Programs

Desert Foothills Theater’s Education Program offers an extensive range of educational opportunities for all ages with a wide array of classes and instructional opportunities such as improvisation, musical theatre, dance and technical theatre.

With a commitment to diversity, COPA is open to everyone from youth to seniors providing quality instruction and training in a nurturing, collaborative and stimulating atmosphere that allows all students to escape inhibition and continue their personal journey into the life changing world of theater and the arts.

Whether you are an experienced performer or a beginner with a desire to explore your inner performer for the first time, our conservatory is the ideal place for you to further your personal journey.

Course Offerings:
ACT IT OUT: CREATE A CHARACTER (Ages 8-12)

"Act It Out: Create A Character" with Heather Cambanes helps young performers look in depth at character creation. Through acting games, exercises and activities, students learn how to build a character. Not all characters are the same. This class will help you learn how to make yours as unique as you.

Day/Time:     Wednesdays 4:30pm - 5:45pm
Dates:           September 27th - December 13th, 2017 (No class November 15th or 22nd, 2017)

TEEN DANCE CLASS (Ages 14-22)

This class is geared to busy performing teens. Meagan Jeffries will work with the class on areas of greatest need/interest by the participant. Whether it is jazz, ballet, tap or hip hop Meagan will challenge you and help you become a much better dancer.

*NOTE: Upon instructor permission younger dancers with experience may join this class.

3-TIERED IMPROV WORKSHOP FOR TEENS (Ages 12-19)
Join Javier Gilmore on SundaySunday for a jam-packed improvisation workshop. These three weeks will have students creating scenarios all over the place and learn how to think on your feet and support performances, social interaction, auditions and more.

READERS THEATER WORKSHOP: SHERLOCK HOLMES RADIO PLAY – THE ADVENTURES OF THE TOLLING BELL (Ages 55 and up)

Desert Foothills Theater is very excited to be offering our first senior theater workshop. This workshop will give participants an opportunity to learn what reader's theater is all about. Through their study of Sherlock Holmes Radio Play: The Adventures of the Tolling Bell, they will learn basic performance skills, rehearse, create foley, and perform! Participants will share what they've learned in a reading of this radio play for friends and family. Join in on the fun with DFT!!

Day/Time: Mondays and Wednesdays 10am - 1pm
Dates: October 23rd - November 15th, 2017
