Arizona Young Artists’ Competition - Saturday, March 11, 2017
The Arizona Young Artists’ Competition offers aspiring young artists, ages 15-19 with an opportunity to compete in the disciplines of Acting, Dance and Voice. The competition is a collaboration between the Herberger Theater Center and Center Dance Ensemble to showcase the diverse and emerging talent of young Arizona artists, introduce them to the audition process, and provide them with an opportunity to interact with highly-regarded arts professionals. The winner in each category will receive a $1,000 scholarship to help further their education in the arts. The audience also has a chance to participate and vote for their favorite performer in the People’s Choice Awards.
Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) is partnering with the Herberger Theater to sponsor an additional $1,500 scholarship to be awarded to one finalist. The winner will be chosen by a panel of ABT judges and will be offered an opportunity to perform with the ABT professional cast in a Main Stage production.
The top four finalists in each category will be selected by a panel of qualified judges from the preliminary auditions held March 6 (Dance), March 7 (Voice) and March 8 (Acting) to participate in the final competition on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
