job opening - Part-time Production Services Theatrical Assistant - City of Phoenix

ABOUT THIS POSITION

This position ensures the proper installation and operation of audio/visual and related technical systems used in support of convention, stage and meeting activities at the Phoenix Convention Center and Venues.  Duties include the installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and oversight of various technical systems, such as theatrical lighting, sound, and rigging used in support of theatrical, convention, and meeting activities; providing direct consultation to clients on these technical systems; and responsibility for oversight of contractors operating theatrical systems during events. Currently, there is one part-time vacancy at the Phoenix Convention Center.

 

RECRUITMENT DATES

First review of applications will occur every two weeks starting the week of September 19, 2016.  Recruitment may close when we have received a sufficient number of qualified applications.  

 

SALARY

$21.48 hourly + Transit Pass.

No other benefits apply for part-time positions.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

▪ Two years of experience in the installation and operation of sound systems, stage lighting, and related technical systems used in a large public assembly facility and/or professional theatrical venueor
▪ An associates degree in theater arts or related field.
▪ An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
▪ Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
▪ Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings will be required.
▪ Work schedules are based on event activity and could vary from 0 – 30 hours per week.
▪ Only the highest qualified will be posted to the eligible to hire list.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Includes the job requirements listed above, plus:

▪ Four years of experience in the installation and operation of sound systems, stage lighting, and related technical systems used in a large public assembly facility and/or professional theatrical venue.
