audition notice - THE LION KING, JR - CYT Phoenix - September 16

CYT Phoenix is offering Valley kids ages 8 through 9th grade the chance to be in the musical megahit  - The Lion King.

Auditions will be held Friday night, September 16 and openings are still available.  Generally, any student that auditions and whose families can make the time commitment – will be cast in the show.

Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world, and now CYT brings it to life on the Mesa Arts Center stage!

The blockbuster movie, turned into record breaking Broadway show, features the music of Elton John and Tim Rice who beautifully blend western popular music with African rhythms into a Broadway style that’s like no other. Over 80 million people have seen it around the world, and it has earned more than 70 international awards. The New York Daily News called it “ a perfect marriage of entertainment and art”.

The African savannah comes to life on stage in January with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

Performances are January 6-15, 2017 at the Mesa Arts Center.

Auditions are Friday September 16 at the CYT Studio in north Phoenix – 2650 E Mohawk Lane Suite 160.

Lion King Jr auditions are open to students from age 8 to 9th grade (by licensing restrictions). To audition please prepare to sing a one minute song.  High school students (10th – 12th grade) will have the opportunity to interview for Intern positions in various production areas!

To be eligible to audition, a student must be enrolled in at least 3 class credits during the Fall session (one 2 hr class per week).   For more information visit the website – www.cytphoenix.org


Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is an after-school theater arts training program for students ages 6-18. Since its founding in 1981 in San Diego, California, CYT has grown to be the largest youth theater in the nation. There are almost twenty branches across the country providing training to thousands of students a year.
