audition notice - SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM - Scottsdale Musical Theater Company - August 29 & 30

Weaving actual video interviews with the legendary composer himself, Sondheim on Sondheim provides a fresh perspective into Stephen Sondheim’s illustrious career from his biggest hits to his earlier works and earlier versions of songs from his famous musicals. This is the first time this show – first produced on Broadway in 2010 – has ever been presented in Arizona.

Character Breakdown

Seeking eight (8) skilled singer-actors – 4 mature adults (2 male, 2 female, age 30-60) and 4 young adults (2 male, 2 female, age 18-30). All vocal types.

What To Prepare

Please prepare two (2) contrasting classic musical theatre selections, 32 bars minimum. Please bring headshot/resume and sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided.

Must be able to learn music quickly and be proficient at harmony. Looking for actors who can command a stage.

SMTC prides itself on presenting affordable theatrical productions of well-known Broadway shows in their entire original Broadway versions with large scale sets, fully costumed and featuring the best of Phoenix area talent along with a full live twenty plus piece orchestra so that these shows can be heard and appreciated as they were originally meant to be.

SMTC presents all of their shows at the beautiful 600 seat theater at Tempe Center for the Arts.
